Welcome to Mrs. Carlson’s Classroom Page!
Let me introduce myself. I am originally from Michigan where I earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Grand Valley State University. I majored in Special Education with an emphasis in Cognitive Impairments and Learning Disabilities and I hold a minor in Elementary Education. I am a proud military spouse and my husband’s career in the military has taken us to Virginia, Texas, California and Arizona where I have spent a total of seven years being the head teacher in a variety of special education classrooms. After exiting active duty military service we landed in Kansas where I have been teaching here in Douglass for a total of five years. I am a proud Douglass educator and cannot imagine teaching in a more supportive school community who love the students and put them first.
In my classroom I have a handful of wonderful para professionals who do an excellent job of providing evidence based practices to lovingly support the learners in our classroom.
